About three hundred people came to Union Chapel on Sunday 25 September 2022 for the ”Waste Stops Here!” exhibition that we organised with support from Islington Council to show the local possibilities for the circular economy. The activities ranged from swapping clothes through seeing reusable fashion to trying novel foods.

Our own consumption, of clothing, food, appliances and other household goods, is a major contributor to climate change. Waste Stops Here! showed a way of living which wastes less. It included:

  • A clothes swap, where people could exchange up to ten pieces of clothing.

  • A subversive catwalk, where especially fashioned clothes were modelled.

  • Free food and drink, such as nibbles without waste from the chef and creator of Hot4U.

  • Food to take away and enjoy sustainably at home.

  • Advice on reuse, recycling and saving money and energy.

  • Information about the wealth of sustainability initiatives in Islington.

  • A raffle to raise money for the Union Chapel homeless service.
